Thank you for advising the school about your child’s upcoming absence during the school term.
This note is to acknowledge that you are making a conscious choice about excluding your child/children from the education program provided by the school.
The School Education Act 1999 does not allow Principals to give permission for families to take holidays during the school term. As students are required to attend school every day, time off for holidays is recorded as an Unauthorised Vacation.
As we have regulated break times during the course of the academic year, we ask that families consider taking children out of the educational program very carefully. This minimises the risk of children missing out on key elements of the program and falling behind in his/her academic progress and achievement.
The class teacher cannot provide work packages for completion whilst on holidays, as replication of the class program through worksheets or booklets is impractical.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter. We wish your family a safe and enjoyable holiday, and we look forward to your child attending again as soon as possible.
Would you please fill out the attached form as a record of acknowledgement of the above and return it to the school office, as soon as possible.
