2022 Cockman House Excursion

Our Year 2 students from M3 & M4 enjoyed a wonderful day at Cockman House, the oldest remaining house in the Wanneroo area. The kids all looked amazing, dressing the part and had loads of fun!  Please see below a couple of recounts from students regarding their excursion.

Recount - Cockman House Excursion 2022

On Thursday, the 16th of June the year twos travelled on a bus to Cockman House in Wanneroo. Cockman House is the oldest house in Wanneroo. We went to Cockman House to learn about the olden days. Everyone dressed up in olden day clothes to make the experience memorable.

First, my class played outside with the wooden toys. Then we did a human timeline. It was funny because Hayden had a moustache and Sienna had 13 kids in one house! There were only three beds but 13 kids. Where did they sleep? They had to sleep top and tail.

Some of the kids on the timeline had to marry and we sprinkled rice like in the olden days.

Then we did a word hunt finding clues about the history of Cockman House. It was a lot of fun.

Lastly, we did a sketch drawing of Cockman House. I had Bella and Addison in my group. My favourite part was washing the clothes using a washboard. It would have taken all day to do the washing in the olden days because there were no machines.

Recount - Recount of Cockman House Excursion 2022

On Thursday the 16th of June the year twos and some adults went to Cockman house. My mum came as a parent helper. We went to see Cockman House to learn about what it was like in the olden days.

First, we played with wooden toys then we did a human timeline. Sienna had 13 babies!

Next, we searched around the house and outside for clues to tell us about the history of Cockman House. We looked in Grannie's room and she had a bowl for weeing in at night called a potty! People in the olden days used a potty because the toilet was outside. When the family took baths, it went from oldest to youngest.

I had Sienna, Grace, and Nevaeh in my group. My favourite thing at Cockman House was the potty!
