Year 6 students from the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen program, along with Chef Stephen Clarke from the award winning restaurant Clarkes of North Beach, cooked, presented and served a 7 course degustation menu to 40 diners consisting of parents, grandparents, staff and other invited guests. It was amazing to see students working and experiencing an authentic learning opportunity.
A big thank you and congratulations to Mrs Jacquie Pashill who worked so hard getting a menu organised and working with the students to develop their cooking and presentation skills, but most of all for helping to develop their confidence in positively interacting with adults on the night.
Thank you also to the many parents and families for either joining us for this wonderful meal or volunteering to assist on the night. We could not have done it without you… too many dishes to wash for one person!!
Once again, we were blessed to have the truly amazing, Chef Stephen Clarke, join us. Although an extremely busy chef in his own restaurant, he always find the time each year to work with our students. He is a strong advocate for developing young people and spends a lot of the time within the community raising money for many charities. We will see Stephen again later in the year at the Finals of our Master Chef competition.
Finally, all monies from the sale of tickets will go straight back to funding new equipment for the kitchen.
Thank you again to all who attended the evening, and for the continued support of our parents throughout the year who come and help out in the Kitchen. Your help is greatly appreciated.
